Expected Floral Trends in 2021

OUDALOVA Events & Design Top Predictions

With the impact of the global pandemic, couples everywhere have had to delay, postpone, or alter their dream wedding day. Reduced guest numbers and smaller weddings have shifted couples focus to spending more of their budget on the smaller details that sometimes get overlooked, like florals.

The top trends that we at OUDALOVA Events & Design are looking forward to seeing this year are:

01. Personalized Colour Palettes

The first trend we are excited to explore is more unique, and customized floral colour palettes. Couples are straying away from traditional colours this year and moving on to those that are more representative of their love story and time together. After the year we had in 2020, bright and fresh colours are much needed and definitely on the horizon.

02. Monochromatic Tones

Monochromatic colours have been all the rage, especially when it comes to the bouquet. For those of you that don’t know what monochrome means, it is defined as having a palette based on one colour, or hue. This look may sound limiting, but in reality, it’s a bold statement that you won’t regret.

03. Dainty Bouquets

A smaller wedding means a greater emphasis on the smaller details. Brides holding a dainty bouquet allows for a more minimalistic feel– a hot trend with the younger generation. Petite arrangements are simplistic, elegant, and are sure to turn heads when walking down the aisle.

04. Floor Installations

A unique way of adding an element that surprises, engages, and delights guests is a floral installation spread over the ground, or on steps. This is a concept that has been less thought of and desired in recent years. However, given that COVID has already modified what weddings would have looked like pre-pandemic, couples are open to experimenting with new ideas.

05. Scaled-down Centrepieces

With many couples deciding to host their wedding at outdoor venues due to health and safety guidelines, and also the growing trend in general, centrepieces are expected to be less of a focal point. Being outdoors allows for nature to do most of the talking itself, and the centrepiece to be a subtle, supporting detail. We’re expecting greens, and various blooms to take off this year in a scaled-down display.
